Amongst the following statements regarding adsorption, those that are valid are
(a) $\Delta \mathrm{H}$ becomes less negative as adsorption proceeds
(b) On a given adsorbent, ammonia is adsorbed more than nitrogen gas
(c) On adsorption, the residual force acting along the surface of the adsorbent increases
(d) With increase in temperature, the equilibrium concentration of adsorbate increases
Select the correct option:
A
(c) and (d)
B
(a) and (b)
C
(d) and (a)
D
(b) and (c)

Solution
Because of polar nature of $\mathrm{NH}_3$, it can be easily liquified as well as easily adsorbed as compared with non-polar $\mathrm{N}_2$ gas. $\Delta \mathrm{H}$ becomes, less negative as the adsorption proceeds.
