Sol. The rms speed of a gas molecule is $$ \begin{aligned} & \mathrm{V}_{\mathrm{RMS}}=\sqrt{\frac{3 \mathrm{RT}}{\mathrm{M}}} \\ & \mathrm{~V}_{\mathrm{RMS}} \propto \sqrt{\mathrm{~T}} \end{aligned} $$
