JEE Main 2027 PYQs: Questions from 2019–2026 with Solutions
For JEE Main 2027, solve JEE Main PYQs from 2019 to 2026. Start with the recent years (2023 to 2026) because they match today's pattern and syllabus most closely, solve them chapter-wise first and year-wise later, and always check the solution only after a genuine attempt. You can read year-wise questions with solutions free on Competishun, or use the PYQ Express course for video and text solutions arranged chapter-wise and topic-wise.
If there is one resource every JEE Main topper agrees on, it is previous year questions. PYQs show you exactly how NTA thinks: which concepts it loves, how it twists them, and how much calculation it expects inside a few minutes.
The good news for JEE Main 2027 aspirants is that you now have eight full years of high-quality questions to learn from, 2019 to 2026, across many sessions and shifts. The challenge is using them well. Solving thousands of questions randomly wastes time; solving them in the right order, with the right kind of solution, can move your score more than almost anything else in the last few months.
This guide explains what the 2019 to 2026 JEE Main PYQs cover year by year, what changed in the pattern and syllabus, the order in which to solve them, and where to find reliable solutions.

Why JEE Main PYQs from 2019 to 2026?
Eight years is the sweet spot. It is recent enough that the question style matches what you will face in 2027, and large enough that every important chapter appears many times. Going further back than 2019 adds questions from an older exam style that are less useful today.
- Pattern relevance: NTA has conducted JEE Main in the computer-based format throughout this period, so the question style is consistent
- Huge question bank: with multiple sessions and shifts every year, you get thousands of real exam questions
- Repeat concepts: NTA repeats ideas, setups and question types across years, so practising 2019 to 2026 builds strong pattern recognition
- Difficulty calibration: PYQs show you the real difficulty level, which stops you from over-preparing very hard problems that rarely appear

| Year | Sessions | What to remember while solving |
|---|---|---|
| 2019 | January + April | Older 90-question format (30 per subject, all MCQ). Concepts still very useful |

| 2022 | June + July | Two sessions held later in the year |
| 2023 | January + April | Close to the current pattern; great practice material |
| 2024 | January + April | First year on the revised, trimmed syllabus |
| 2025 | January + April | Optional choice in the numerical section removed: all questions compulsory |

Pattern and Syllabus Changes You Must Know
Older PYQs are still valuable, but you should solve them with the changes below in mind. This stops you from wasting time or drawing the wrong conclusions.
| Period | Format per subject | How it affects your PYQ practice |
|---|---|---|
| 2019 | 30 MCQs | Use for concepts; ignore the old question count when timing yourself |
| 2020 | 20 MCQs + 5 numericals | Good numerical practice; the structure is close to today's |
| 2021 to 2024 | 20 MCQs + 10 numericals (attempt any 5) | Solve all 10 numericals while practising; in the exam you no longer get a choice |
| 2025 onwards | 20 MCQs + 5 numericals, all compulsory | Closest to JEE Main 2027; use these as full-length timed practice |

The Right Order to Solve JEE Main PYQs
The biggest mistake students make is opening a 2019 paper on day one and attempting it straight. A much better approach is to work in three rounds, so each round builds on the last.
The 3-Round JEE Main PYQ Method
Chapter-wise
Right after you finish or revise a chapter
Concept to questionTopic-wise
Mixed questions from your weak topics
Fix weak areasYear-wise papers
Full shifts in 3 hours, 2025–2026 first
Speed + temperamentAttempt first · check second · log mistakes
Round 1: Chapter-wise PYQs (during preparation)
As soon as you finish or revise a chapter, solve its PYQs from 2023 to 2026 first, then 2019 to 2022. This turns theory into exam skill while the chapter is fresh. You can see a deeper chapter-by-chapter approach in our guide on solving JEE Main PYQs the right way.
Round 2: Topic-wise PYQs (weak areas)
Pick the topics where you keep making mistakes and solve their PYQs together, across all years. Seeing ten questions on the same idea back to back is the fastest way to close a gap.
Round 3: Year-wise full papers (final months)
In the last stretch before the exam, attempt full shifts in three hours, starting with 2025 and 2026 because they follow the current pattern exactly. Treat them like mock tests and analyse every one.
| Months before exam | Main PYQ focus | Years to use |
|---|---|---|
| 4 to 3 months | Round 1: chapter-wise with revision | 2023–2026, then 2019–2022 |
| 3 to 1.5 months | Round 2: topic-wise for weak areas | All years, mixed |
| Last 6 weeks | Round 3: full timed shifts | 2025–2026 first, then 2023–2024 |
| Keep one or two full papers from 2026 untouched until the final weeks so you have fresh, realistic practice. | ||
How to Use PYQ Solutions Properly
Solutions are where most of the learning happens, but only if you use them the right way.
- Attempt first, always: give every question a genuine try before you look at the solution, even if you only reach halfway
- Read detailed solutions for wrong answers: when you got it wrong, understand every step and the concept behind it
- Watch fast methods for right answers: even when you were correct, a quicker method can save precious minutes in the exam
- Log every mistake: write down the chapter, the type of error and the fix, and revise this log every week
- Re-solve after a week: questions you got wrong should be attempted again without looking, to confirm the learning stuck
