About JEE Main 2024 Question Papers with Solutions
JEE Main 2024 was conducted by the National Testing Agency in two sessions. Session 1 was held in January and February 2024 across five dates and Session 2 in April 2024 across five more dates. Both sessions together saw over 14 lakh candidates appearing, making it one of the most competitive JEE Main cycles in recent years.
On this page all papers are available subject-wise, meaning Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are available as separate downloadable PDFs for each shift. This format is far more useful than a single combined PDF because it lets you focus on one subject at a time, track your performance individually, and identify exactly which chapters need more attention.
One important note — Maths papers for the January 2024 session are currently not available in our collection. All Physics and Chemistry papers for January are complete. All three subjects are fully available for every shift of April 2024.

2024 vs 2025 vs 2026 Pattern: Comparing 2024 and 2025 papers shows remarkable consistency in topic distribution. Calculus, Electrodynamics and Organic Chemistry have been the top scorers and score-killers for two consecutive years. These three areas are almost certain to dominate JEE Main 2026 as well. Students preparing for 2026 should solve 2024 papers to see this pattern clearly.

Important Note for 2024 Papers: In 2024, NVT questions had no negative marking and you could choose any 5 out of 10. This means scores in 2024 papers may be slightly higher than what you would get in 2025 or 2026 exams where NVTs are compulsory and have negative marking. Adjust your expectation accordingly when comparing your practice scores.
How to Use JEE Main 2024 Papers for JEE Main 2026 Prep
JEE Main 2024 papers are two years old now but they are still extremely relevant for 2026 preparation. Here is the smartest way to use them:
Use 2024 and 2025 Papers Together
Solve a 2024 paper first, then solve the same date's equivalent 2025 paper back to back
Topics that appear in both 2024 and 2025 are almost certain to appear in 2026
Note the question framing differences across years to understand NTA's evolving style
This two-year comparison is the single most powerful pattern recognition exercise you can do
Use April 2024 Papers for Full PCM Practice
April 2024 has complete Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for all 10 shifts
Start with April papers for full 3-subject practice sessions
Use January 2024 papers for Physics and Chemistry targeted practice
This way you still cover all shifts even with the January Maths gap
NVT Strategy Adjustment for 2026
When solving 2024 papers, attempt all 10 NVTs not just 5 as the 2024 exam allowed
Also apply minus 1 penalty to wrong NVT answers when calculating your score
This simulates the 2025 and 2026 exam rules and gives you a more accurate practice experience
It will feel harder but that is actually better preparation for the real 2026 exam
What Toppers Do: Students who score 99.5 plus percentile in JEE Main typically solve 3 to 4 full years of past papers before the exam. Solving 2024 papers along with 2025 papers gives you 40 shifts of authentic NTA practice — that is the kind of exposure that builds real exam confidence.

JEE Main 2026 Preparation Tips Based on 2024 Paper Trends
After analysing all 20 shifts of JEE Main 2024, here are the subject-wise preparation tips that matter most for 2026:
Physics — Target 80 Plus Out of 100
Mechanics was tested heavily in 2024 especially Rotation, Energy Conservation and SHM. This pattern will continue in 2026
Electrodynamics including Current Electricity and Magnetism appeared in every single shift. This must be a priority area
Optics had surprisingly high weightage in 2024 especially Wave Optics. Do not skip this unit
Modern Physics questions in 2024 were mostly straightforward NCERT level. Easy marks if prepared
Thermodynamics and Kinetic Theory gave consistent questions across both sessions in 2024
Chemistry — Target 85 Plus Out of 100
In 2024, Inorganic Chemistry from NCERT was more heavily tested than in previous years. Read NCERT thoroughly
Organic Reaction Mechanisms and Named Reactions gave the most questions per shift — 6 to 8 every time
Physical Chemistry including Thermodynamics and Electrochemistry was consistent across all shifts in 2024
Environmental Chemistry and Biomolecules from NCERT gave easy 1 to 2 marks in many 2024 shifts
Coordination Chemistry including IUPAC naming and isomerism was a favourite NTA topic in 2024
Mathematics — Target 75 Plus Out of 100
Definite Integration was the single most tested topic in JEE Main 2024 Mathematics — it appeared in literally every shift
Application of Derivatives including maxima minima and tangent normal gave 2 to 3 questions per shift
Circles and Conics were tested more aggressively in 2024 than in 2023. Practise all standard circle problems
Probability and Matrices were NVT favourites in 2024 — these are standard formula-based topics worth preparing well
3D Geometry and Vectors gave 3 to 4 questions per shift in 2024 and are relatively straightforward for most students
Score Target for 99 Plus Percentile in JEE Main 2026: Based on 2024 and 2025 trends, target Physics 80 plus, Chemistry 88 plus, Mathematics 77 plus — total around 245 marks. This gives comfortable 99 percentile across most shift difficulty levels. For 99.5 percentile, aim for 265 marks and above.

The key difference is in NVT questions. In 2024, each subject had 10 NVTs and you could choose any 5 to attempt. There was no negative marking on NVTs. From 2025 onwards, all 5 NVTs per subject are compulsory and negative marking of minus 1 applies to wrong NVT answers. Total questions attempted and marks remain the same at 75 questions and 300 marks.
The toughest shift in January 2024 was 1 February Shift 2 with 99 percentile achievable at just 140 to 144 marks due to very hard Physics and Mathematics. In April 2024, 9 April Shift 2 was the toughest overall with all three subjects rated hard and 99 percentile at only 145 to 149 marks. Both these papers are excellent practice for students who want to test themselves under the hardest conditions.
For 99 percentile in 2024, marks ranged from around 140 to 182 depending on the shift. January 2024 average was around 158 marks and April 2024 average was around 162 marks for 99 percentile. The easiest shifts needed 174 to 182 marks while the toughest shifts needed only 140 to 149 marks for the same 99 percentile.
Absolutely yes. JEE Main 2024 papers are highly relevant for 2026 preparation. NTA follows a very consistent topic distribution and question style. Topics that appeared in 2024 and 2025 are very likely to appear again in 2026. The key is to solve 2024 papers with 2025 exam rules — treat all NVTs as compulsory and apply negative marking to wrong NVT answers.
The papers on this page are official NTA question papers with verified answer keys prepared by Competishun subject experts. These are the actual papers that were used in JEE Main 2024 and are shared here for free to help students in their preparation.
In Mathematics, Definite Integration was the most tested topic in 2024 appearing in all 20 shifts. Application of Derivatives including maxima, minima and tangent normal problems gave 2 to 3 questions per shift. Circles and Conics were more heavily tested than in previous years. Probability, Matrices and 3D Geometry also gave consistent questions across both sessions.
When using 2024 papers for 2026 preparation, attempt all 10 NVTs per subject instead of choosing just 5 as the 2024 exam allowed. Also apply minus 1 penalty for any wrong NVT answer when calculating your score. This simulates the current 2025 and 2026 exam rules. It will make the paper feel harder but gives you more realistic practice for the actual JEE Main 2026 exam.
Approximately 11.72 lakh candidates appeared in JEE Main January 2024 and around 9.3 lakh in April 2024. The total unique candidate count was around 14.76 lakh. A total of 24 candidates scored a perfect 100 NTA score. The cutoff for JEE Advanced 2024 qualification for the General category was 93.10 percentile.
