✓ Quick answer

TOSC 2026 is IIT Kanpur Techkriti's national school championship for Classes 6 to 12. Phase 1 is an online logical-reasoning exam on 1 November 2026. The top 220 students qualify for Phase 2 at IIT Kanpur on 27 December 2026, where the campus finale decides the winners.

What is TOSC 2026?

TOSC 2026 is the Techkriti Open School Championship, a national championship organised by Techkriti, IIT Kanpur, for students of Classes 6 to 12.

TOSC is the school-level championship of Techkriti, IIT Kanpur's annual technical and entrepreneurial festival. It brings school students from across India into one competition that is built around how they think, not what stream they study. The questions test logical reasoning and problem-solving, so a Class 6 student and a Class 12 science student both compete on the same core skill: clear, sharp thinking under time pressure.

Competishun supports TOSC as a supporting partner, connecting the championship with school students across India. The championship itself belongs to Techkriti, IIT Kanpur. Registration and all official details are on the official TOSC website.

Why it matters: TOSC gives school students a genuine national-stage experience. Phase 1 is online and open to everyone in Classes 6 to 12. Phase 2 takes the best 220 students to the IIT Kanpur campus for a finale that feels like a festival, with activities, workshops and a campus tour built around it.

Who can participate in TOSC 2026?

Any student of Class 6 to 12 can participate. Students compete in three pools, grouped by class, so younger students are not competing directly against senior students:

PoolClassesPhase 2 qualifiers
Pool AClasses 6 to 8Top 20
Pool BClasses 9 to 10Top 100
Pool CClasses 11 to 12Top 100

All streams are welcome. A humanities student, a commerce student and a science student all face the same kind of test, because TOSC is built around logical reasoning, not one stream syllabus.

Exam format and syllabus

Phase 1 is a 45-minute online exam with 40 objective questions on logical reasoning. That works out to just over a minute per question, so speed and accuracy both matter. The official website does not publish a detailed topic list, so the safest preparation is broad logical-reasoning practice: patterns, series, puzzles, coding-decoding, blood relations, direction sense, ranking and seating, and basic data interpretation.

Preparation tip: practise timed sets of 40 questions in 45 minutes. The habit of moving on from a stuck question and returning later is worth more than solving one hard puzzle perfectly.

Phase 2 is not another written paper. At IIT Kanpur, qualifiers take part in puzzles and activities, exhibitions, workshops, a campus tour and talks. It rewards the same thinking skills, applied live, in teams and on campus.

Prizes and certificates

Winners receive Gold and Silver certificates, and prizes worth up to Rs. 5 lakh. Winners also get the opportunity to visit ISRO and science centres such as ARIES. The promo deck also mentions tablets, speakers, smart watches, vouchers, subscriptions, goodies and a Best School Award for the best-performing school.

Note: prize details can change. Check the official TOSC website for the final prize terms before you plan around any specific prize.

Every participant in Phase 1 receives a participation certificate, so even students who do not reach Phase 2 walk away with a certificate from an IIT Kanpur championship.
