Question
5.33 g of $\mathrm{CrCl}_3 \cdot 6 \mathrm{H}_2 \mathrm{O}$, which is a $1: 3$ electrolyte, is dissolved in water and is passed through a cation exchanger. The chloride ions in the eluted solution, on treatment with $\mathrm{AgNO}_3$ results in 8.61 g of AgCl . The ratio of moles of complex reacted and moles of AgCl formed is $\_\_\_\_$ $\times 10^{-2}$. (Nearest integer) [Molar mass in gmol $^{-1} \mathrm{Cr}: 52, \mathrm{Ag}: 108, \mathrm{Cl}: 35.5, \mathrm{H}: 1, \mathrm{O}: 16$ ]

Solution
\begin{aligned} & {\left[\mathrm{Cr}\left(\mathrm{H}_2 \mathrm{O}\right)_6\right] \mathrm{Cl}_3+\underset{\text { excess }}{\mathrm{AgNO}_3} \rightarrow \underset{\mathrm{ppt}}{3 \mathrm{AgCl}(\mathrm{~s})}} \\ & \frac{\text { no. of moles of complex reacted }}{\text { no. of moles of } \mathrm{AgCl} \text { precipitated }} \times 100 \\ & =\frac{1}{3} \times 100=33.3 \end{aligned}
