JEE Mains 2027 Application Form — How to Apply and Fee Structure

JEE Main 2027 Session 1 registration is expected to open in October-November 2026 at jeemain.nta.nic.in. The form is entirely online. There is no offline application route. Here is the step-by-step process based on the 2026 application cycle.

1

Visit Official Portal

Go to jeemain.nta.nic.in. Do not use any third-party websites. Look for the "Registration for JEE Main 2027" link on the homepage.

2

New Registration

Click New Registration. Fill your name exactly as on Class 10 marksheet. Set a strong password. Note down the generated Application Number — you will need it for every future login.

3

Fill Application Form

Enter personal details, exam city preferences (up to 4 cities in order of preference), educational qualification, category, and choose your paper (Paper 1 / Paper 2A / Paper 2B or combination).

4

Live Photo Capture

NTA captures your photo via webcam during the form filling process. Keep good lighting and remove glasses. This photo appears on your admit card.

5

Upload Documents

Upload scanned signature (4KB to 30KB), Class 10 certificate details, Class 12 details, and category certificate if applicable. Ensure all files are clear and within specified size limits.

6

Pay Application Fee

Pay online via UPI, Net Banking, Debit Card, or Credit Card. Fee is non-refundable. Save the payment confirmation page. Applications without fee payment are treated as incomplete.

7

Print Confirmation

Download and print the completed application confirmation page. Save the PDF on at least two devices. This serves as proof of registration.

8

Form Correction Window

NTA opens a correction window after registration closes. Use this to fix errors in name, category, city preferences, or other details. You cannot change paper type or exam session after this window.

JEE Main 2027 Application Fee (Based on 2026 Structure — Expected Unchanged)

JEE Main 2027 Expected Percentile vs Rank vs Score Reference

JEE Main uses a percentile-based normalisation process since the exam is held over multiple shifts with different papers. Your actual score is converted to a percentile (NTA score). Here is a reference chart based on recent years.

JEE Main Score (out of 300)Expected PercentileExpected Rank (CRL)Likely Admission Level
250+99.5+Top 5,000Top IITs via JEE Advanced
220-24999 to 99.45,000 to 12,000Good IITs via JEE Advanced
190-21997 to 98.912,000 to 30,000Qualify JEE Advanced, top NITs
160-18993 to 96.930,000 to 70,000Good NITs and IIITs
130-15985 to 92.970,000 to 1,50,000NITs (average branches) and state colleges
100-12970 to 84.91,50,000 to 3,00,000GFTIs and state engineering colleges
Below 100Below 703,00,000+Private colleges (state board quota)
These are estimates based on JEE Main 2025 and 2026 data. Actual percentile depends on the difficulty of the paper and the number of students that year.
JEE Advanced qualification threshold: Top 2.5 lakh candidates in the JEE Main CRL (Common Rank List) qualify for JEE Advanced. In recent years, this threshold has been around the 87-90 percentile mark. To be safe, aim for 95+ percentile in JEE Main if your goal is IIT.

Frequently Asked Questions — JEE Mains 2027

What is the JEE Main 2027 exam date?
JEE Main 2027 has not been officially announced yet. Based on the consistent NTA pattern, Session 1 is expected in the last week of January 2027 across multiple days and two shifts per day. Session 2 is expected in April 2027. The NTA information bulletin is expected to be released in October-November 2026. Keep checking jeemain.nta.nic.in for the official announcement.
How many questions and marks are there in JEE Main 2027?
Paper 1 (B.Tech/B.E) is expected to have 75 questions for 300 marks. Each of the three subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) has 25 questions — 20 MCQs in Section A and 5 Numerical Value Questions in Section B. All questions are compulsory since 2025. There are no optional questions. Marking scheme: +4 for correct, -1 for wrong in both sections.
When will JEE Main 2027 registration open?
JEE Main 2027 Session 1 registration is expected to open in October-November 2026 at jeemain.nta.nic.in. NTA typically releases the information bulletin and the application form link simultaneously. Session 2 registration opens separately in late January 2027. Both sessions have independent registration processes. You can appear in either or both sessions independently.
What is the application fee for JEE Main 2027?
Based on the 2026 fee structure (expected unchanged for 2027): General male candidates pay Rs 1,000 for a single paper. EWS/OBC-NCL male candidates pay Rs 900. All female candidates pay Rs 800. SC/ST/PwD/Transgender candidates pay Rs 500. For two papers (both Paper 1 and Paper 2), fees double for most categories. Outside India applicants pay Rs 5,000 (General male). All fees are strictly non-refundable.
Am I eligible for JEE Main 2027 if I passed Class 12 in 2025?
Yes. Candidates who passed Class 12 in 2025, 2026, or 2027 are eligible for JEE Main 2027. If you passed in 2025, JEE Main 2027 would be your last eligible year (you can attempt the exam in up to 3 consecutive years). There is no age limit. You must have Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as core subjects in Class 12.
Can I appear in both sessions of JEE Main 2027?
Yes, you can appear in both Session 1 (January) and Session 2 (April) of JEE Main 2027. Each session has a separate registration and fee payment process. If you appear in both sessions, NTA considers the best of your two scores for the final rank. There is no penalty for appearing in only one session — you are not required to appear in both.
What percentage do I need in Class 12 for NIT admission through JEE Main 2027?
For admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs through JoSAA 2027 counselling, you need a minimum of 75% aggregate in Class 12 (General/EWS/OBC categories) or 65% (SC/ST/PH categories). This percentage requirement is for admission only, not for appearing in JEE Main itself. If your Class 12 percentage is below 75%, you can still appear in JEE Main 2027 — you just need to improve your board marks before JoSAA counselling begins.
What documents do I need for the JEE Main 2027 application form?
Documents required: Aadhaar card (mandatory for Indian nationals), Class 10 marksheet for name and date of birth, Class 12 marksheet or appearing certificate, a functional webcam for live photo capture, scanned signature (4KB to 30KB in JPG format), category certificate if applying under OBC-NCL/EWS/SC/ST/PwD, a working mobile number for OTP, and a valid email ID. OBC-NCL and EWS certificates must be from the current financial year at the time of application.
